Two thirds through the season and we are starting to see a bit of a break in the field. Although there is still 6 games to go I think the 4 is just about locked in. The Millers reclaim top spot with a huge win away from and the premiers and Knights also getting the job done on the road. There was some big results and only 1 team won at home this week as we head into the long weekend so let’s have a gander.
The Millers wow what a win this was racking up a tonne and reclaiming top spot on the ladder. From reports this was put to bed pretty early and was a one-sided affair for the visitors. The loss for the Lions now puts them 8 points out of the mix and looks like another finals opportunity may have slipped. When we return they host the in form Knights with their season on the line and the Millers host the View.
Cockburn 90 (7) vs Sorrento 61 (1)
(Jordan King 31 - Murray Hulbert 13) (Marc Abonnel 20 - Chris Leggett 19) (Peter Burgess 17 - Rhett Butler 20) (Tony Krajancic 22 - Greg Taylor 9)
Huge win for Cockburn and boy didn’t they need it recording a 29 shot win over Sorrento. The 7 points now gets them with 4 points of Doubleview and chance of hanging on to premier. Sorrento really had to win this and now find themselves 13 and a half points from safety and face a tough challenge against the Eagles after the break. Cockburn head over to take on the Saints.
Doubleview 73 (1) vs Mount Lawley 88 (7)
(Anthony Williams 16 - Jack East 26) (Charles Slavich 14 - Daniel Trewhella 23) (John Slavich 28 - Corey Bessant 18) (Kyle McIlroy 15 - Ben Leggett 21)
Good win for the premiers starting to hit their straps in the business end with a 15 shot win over the View. Just 1 and a half points off top spot and have a real chance off setting themselves up for a top 2 finish when they next host Leeming. Super big heck now for the View I got no idea what’s going on. They are only 4 points out of the beef and some real work to do just to make the challenge game as they head to take on the Millers next round.
Leeming 63 (1) vs Osborne Park 101 (7)
(Gary Ford 11 - Segan Pasalich 36) (Jim Newton 13 - Ryan Brown 31) (Lionel Mundri 20 - Dale Marsland 12) (Paul Hickey 19 - Brad Gillingham 22)
The Saints keeping their finals hopes alive with a 38 shot thumping over Leeming. The Saints have been in this position before and will be hoping for history to repeat itself from last year. Good opportunity for them to keep the pressure on when they next host Cockburn. Leeming baring a miracle look like they are the first team to be heading back to white and it doesn’t get much better as they head to Mt Lawley next.
The Knights haven’t they got fair dinkum continuing their great run with a win over the Eagles by 4. The Knights now storming up the ladder and only find themselves 2 and a half points from top spot. Whopping game for them when we come back when they head over to the Den while Manning will head over to Sorrento.
