DRAWS

12th January 21 - The singles draw is out! Our first big event of the year has attracted more competitors than last year, 86 sections for the men up from 82 and 33 sections for the ladies, up from 25. This resurgence in players entering, especially the women, this year is so pleasing.

TIPPING

16th January 21 - I'm not going to make it through all the draw I'm sorry, work has been murder this week.

13th January 21 - Made it do Section 30. This is hard yards! And Hattie has also submitted her thoughts for the ladies draw. I know some sections are not quite 100% (looking at you Lance) but some tips I get occasionally miss a section. Should only be a minor difference in the scheme of things.

13th January 21 - I'll be gradually putting my thoughts down over the next couple of days.

12th January 21 - And with the singles comes the tipping. Singles is so hard for me to manage with 119 sections and an estimated 100 entries, thats a huge amount of work but it's fun isn't it! Why not test your mettle and do what Warwick Neville did in the pairs and compete for a $50 Cork and Bottle voucher to use at Mike Bessants establishment in Bassendean. It really is a nice place to visit, especially on a Sunday where you'll have some live music playing and a very relaxing environment.
So get tipping, you have until Sunday morning. Like all of my tipping the winner will be decided by the most amount of correct tips, equal winners will be decided on who they choose to win the event and how far that person has made it (men first and then women) and if that is still tied, then a toss of the coin will decide the winner.
Good luck to all!

TIPPING - Mens State Pairs

2nd January 21 - We have the winner of the tipping comp

27th December 20 - The tipping will close this morning at 8am, it is a race in 3 according to our tipsters, favourite at the moment is the Rankin/Brandsma pair closely followed by the Packer/Mitchell and Pauling Walker pairs. The weather looks like it will be kind to us, good luck to all those competing!

24th December 20 - I've penned my thoughts on the state pairs sections

20th December 20 - Yet again we will run a mens state pairs tipping competition, we couldn't include the ladies because of the distance apart of the dates. 38 sections so should be pretty easy to win the $50 voucher from the Cork & Bottle in Bassendean. With only 38 sections, it is ultra critical to pick who you think will actually win, and not yourself. Unless you're Cody Packer or Matt Mitchell trying to do the repeat, they can probably pick themselves with some certainty. Tied entries will be decided by who you pick to win, the highest finishing pair from the selections get the chocolates. If multiple teams tip the same number of winning sections and the same winning team, it will be drawn from a hat at the Cork & Bottle. You can tip multiple times, but I will only accept the latest tip as older tips will be superseded. Any questions? No? Well get tipping!

RESULTS - Mens State Pairs

30th December 20 - What a season Sorrento are having, the pennant team flying and in the State Pairs getting both finalists is a massive achievement, wonder when the last time teammates played against each other for the title (EDIT: have been informed this happened in 2000, not only Cockburn teammates but brothers Tony and Marko Krajancic playing against each other with John Ravlich and Norm Pascoe respectively). And all 4 combatants over 60 years of age, in such demanding conditions as well. It was the combination of Bruce Eagles and Greg Taylor who triumphed over Chris Lander and Ross Cunningham 16-8. Well done to the winning team. I reckon they will be sore today.

28th December 20 - We are down to 8 teams left in the state pairs, a long day ahead for the winner tomorrow as temperatures predicted to hit 39, the winner will be required to play 51 ends, it's a survival of the fittest for sure. Our tippers think the Rankin/Brandsma out and out favs now and 1/4, but still wide open. Good to see the young kid Segan Pasalich still playing, but all 8 a good chance of winning. Head to Osborne Park at 9am tomorrow to see some enthralling matches unfold.

27th December 20 - Haven't some big names fallen in Day 1 of the state pairs. None bigger than last years winners Cody Packer and Matt Mitchell who were beaten by the eventual winners of the section from York Ashworth and Archer. Another highly rated pair of Scott Walker and Glenn Pauling could only manage the 1 win, Stein Davies and Butch Dinnison progressing through that section. The final pair to receive many tips including my own of John Slavich and Kyle McIlroy will also be watching the cricket tomorrow after they were bundled out by Ross Bresland and Derek Angell. Section 9 doesn't happen often, 2 teams equal on points, shots for and shots against. The winner of the section determined by who won the game they played against each other, so Ryan Moyle and Tom Whitfield, last years runners up progress by the skin of their teeth

Some good games tomorrow, the bottom 3 winners all strike each other early, Knott/Williams playing Opie/Manton first up, and the winner hits the Rankin/Brandsma pair if they win. If you want to watch some high quality pairs, head to Doubleview and Sorrento for the knockout games.

27th December 20 - If you want to keep up to date tomorrow with the state pairs but can't be in attendance, Click Here for the google docs sheet from Bowls WA

TIPPING

19th October 20 - We have a winner already! No need for selecting the winner of the event to separate 2 tippers on the same score, congratulations go out to Andrew Foster from Cambridge Bowling Club for selecting 25 winners out of a possible 32. He missed on Packer, Butler, Ch Slavich, A Smith, Morss, Wilke and Davidson. Well done Andrew, I will be in contact on how to collect your winning prize of $50 to spend at the Cork and Bottle in Bassendean, thanks again to Mike Bessant for that. A full list of results will be posted during the week. If interested, Foster chose Justin Opie and Kristina Krstic to win the event

16th October 20 - Last days for the tipping, Kristina Krstic and her team are raging favourites and have been from the outset, it is a race in 3 according to the 61 tipsters so far but Krstic has all the running. The men will see the other Packer of the Cody variety start favourites although not as comprehensively. Plenty of support for Justin Opie, Daniel Trewhella, Dave Rankin and John Slavich. Interestingly Blake Nairn has some support to win the event, just not to win his section!! Some names low down from the tipsters thoughts are Shane Knott, Ryan Moyle and Clive Adams, watch out for them at the deep end.

13th October 20 - Day 3, and not much change on the list now from 53 tips. Krstic is still well fancied at 6/4on and really equal 2nd is Helen Morss and Lisa Featherby. Hard to see that changing much in the lead up to Saturday. The Mens still sees Cody Packer as favourite but it's still a bit more open. Justin Opie maintains 2nd favourtism from Daniel Trewhella wtih Dave Rankin 4th favourite. Who will be the favourite when the field jumps at 9.30am Sat morning?

11th October 20 - As mentioned the State Fours draw has been released. Who is going to win? Thanks again to The Cork and Bottle in Bassendean for offering a $50 voucher to use at Mike Bessants bar. Like before, tip in all sections and the person with the most correct tips will win. If there is a tie then the person you choose as the winner will decide, if still tied or no winner correct then I will draw out of a hat.

RESULTS

18th October 20 - Click Here for all the day 1 scores from the state fours and also the knockout stages played during the day.
Day 1 saw the demise of our mens favourites Cody Packer and his rink, young Ben Leggett defeating them to make the knockout stages. Other big names to fall include Charlie Slavich, Dave Rankin, Blake Nairn, Helen Morss. some big names left and it promises to be an exciting day at Osborne Park or Bassendean today

CALENDAR

16th October 20 - Merredin have a memorial triples on the 8th November.

CALENDAR

14th October 20 - Mt Pleasant have had to cancel their carnival next week, howver did get a carnival at Mandurah in November

RESULTS

12th October 20 - The final has been played, a nail biting 31-29 win to Kalamunda's Bill Brandsma over Shane Knott in a gripping final.

11th October 20 - The Everest is down to the quarter finals, and what cracking field it is. The surprise result for me was David Rankins defeat who has been in sublime touch. Mind you he was beaten by a very handy bowler in Bill Brandsma 21-11.
So the quarter finals games today are -

Cody Packer v Justin Opie
Corey Bessant v Bill Brandsma
Blake Nairn v Chris Carruthers
ShaneKnott v Rhett Butler

My tip is a Packer v Nairn final. Tune in to Facebook to watch the live broadcasts during the day, search for Everest and watch.

DRAWS

9th October 20 - The State Fours draw has been released. The Ladies entries have gone from 29 last year to 39, and the men has increased from 74 to 87 teams. This warms the cockles, to see such a large increase entries is exceptionally good, and hope it continues to future years. I will be doing a tipping competition again this year as well, keep an eye out for that on Sunday.

FACTS

8th October 20 - Manning look like they have scored a couple of late signings

DRAWS

8th October 20 - The Everest starts today, if you want to keep in touch with the scores all weekend, Click Here for all the scores as they happen

5th October 20 - The biggest singles event in Australia is on this weekend. The Everest is fast becoming a must play event, ruined a bit this year with COVID restictions but it will bigger and better than ever next year.

FOOTY TIPS

8th October 20 - Remember back in March we started an AFL tipping comp? Yeah I'd forgotten to, but it still went on with about 20 hardy souls tipping every week, and as promised we have a prize to give to the winner. 115 correct tips which is an exceptional effort, well done to Miles Kemp! He has had a good year being a mad Sth Fremantle follower as well. Equal 2nd in the AFL tips on 112 was Scotty (???) and Leigh Salter. Nothing to them though. Miles I will be in touch about your prize, thanks again to The Cork and Bottle for donating a $50 voucher to use at Mike Bessants bar in Bassendean.
