A tight contest all day but Manning are this years Premier League champions, backing up their performance from last year. They were too consistent all year, finishing top of the ladder, before a blip in the qualifying final saw them play a do or die match against doubleview which they narrowly won, but in the final they were too strong for a gallant South Perth who came from 5th to finish 2nd and win the qualifying final. It was a reversal of the years results as South Perth were 3-0 against Manning during the year, but as we know it means bugger all in the grand final.
I wasn't able to watch the game this year as I was playing next door but I know South Perth were in front for the first third of the game before Manning hit the front and never gave up the lead. Still, the margin was single digits just about all day with neither side giving an inch. The Scores for South Perth are a bit reflective of their year, with Glenn Pauling and Justin Opie losing, while Daniel Brown was winning. Ross Bresland had a good win over Will Hyatt on the TV rink but it was not enough to offset the losses.
Congratulations Manning, I'm sure you'll fly that flag with pride at the club.
