Alcolizer

Last Round before we break for Santa & friends. There’s some interesting games this Round with most top teams having a bread & butter game which they need to put away but these are the ones they can trip up on.
With the curse of Summer Bay continuing last week on the Home & Away form, you would think it’ll surely change this weekend as we could nearly make a play for every Away team to win but maybe that’s slightly too hopefully but surely we’ll have at least 2 away wins or this Home form is truly cursed. Nobody wants to be heading into the break with a loss so most games should be pretty tight across the board. Good luck, enjoy your Christmas break & stay safe.

8th v 9th in a game that doesn't register with the top half of the ladder but is massive for both these clubs. Only 1pt separates both these sides with Basso just ahead & with a healthier score differential. With both sides only predicted to win a handful of games from here whoever wins this will go a long way in deciding who gets automatically demoted & who gets that 8th place wildcard to stay in 1 White against a 1 Blue side.
I do have Basso going 2 in a row for the only time this season & also have them going 3 from 6 from R7 which isn't too bad but the home stretch is tough for them. Both sides had good wins last week & I would be easily taking the Wizards if this was at their home track but Basso could just sneak this one but it’ll be surely down to 1 blow out rink. Less than 15 in the result.

Quinns are back home & happy to be there. They need to try stop the rot & going 5 in a row in losses wouldn’t help them climb to safety. The Lions stay on the road this Round after tough back to back Away games but not getting anything meaningful from Sorrento puts them in a tough position here to grab max points on the table. If they don’t win here & drop that pivotable R9 game then they will surely not be in a position to take top spot, pretty simple maths from my viewpoint.
Quinn’s got Wards side into the winners circle last week & they’ll need them again & 1 other rink to support Berecz sides if they’ll have a real chance of cracking a solid Basso side. From predictions we don't have Quinns winning until R14 which would be extraordinary length between wins from R3 but surely they'll grab a few W's over the next few games. If Basso want to play PL they need to be getting max points off Quinns who are playing at 1 Blue level at the moment, sitting rock bottom. Quinns will give them a run for their money so this won’t be a smash & grab, they’ll have to earn it.

GAME OF THE ROUND: We had trouble calling this game when doing predictions as it was terribly hard to call & this has probably only got harder after the Roos massive win last Round. The Roosters were bitterly disappointed again playing Away last week by losing by 1 single point but they’ll need to bounce back & forget about that because this game is huge in the context of finishing in that converted 4th spot. Cockburn have the better percentage but there’s only 0.5pt between these sides, so this will be a great battle.
Both sides are very similar in structure & balance across the 4 rinks so I think this will go down to matchups. I’m tipping Joes side to burst out of the blocks. Marevic’s side are 2 from 7 which doesn’t sound right & so is Simo’s so surely on the home track they can get back to winning ways. I actually think the Roosters might push this one out to 20 shot win if they get moving early.

Rossmoyne will be eager to get some valuable home points on the board as they have not executed like usual at home by winning convincingly although they have won most of their home games but all were very tight (3, 8 & 10 shots). Their away form generally won’t hold up to 50% or more which puts huge pressure on collecting those home wins.
Gosnells got lucky last week by getting over the line by the skin of their teeth & this will be another challenge for them to overcome if they genuinely believe in a top 3 spot.
Tough game to call but I’ll probably go against the Home form & think this could be one of those very very rare Away wins in 1 White this year. It won't be surprising to the River Rats take this one so they are probably favourites considering they have won 3 from 4 thus far this season but I think the Kookaburra's might just cause a later upset. Either way I can't see more than a dozen shots in the result.

Both sides are in different mindsets for ambitions this season as Sorrento will take a mid table spot & maintain their divisional status (even if they could they can't go up). Whereas nothing short of automatic promotion will satisfy Mt Lawley after bringing in the fire power to finally push them to the brink of PL. The Mounters dropped their bundle last Round for the first time this season but it was a very close game & they still got 2pts to keep the ladder ticking over.
The Swans had a great win last weekend against one of the top sides & the upside for them is they’re only 1pt off a Finals spot so plenty for them to play for. Like most, the Mounters seem to be a lot stronger at home as they settle into the new surface, making this difficult for the Swans to break open any rinks but if they play like they did last weekend, well all bets are off.
This might be a close game in parts but Mounters should be too strong as losing this & going into a game of the season Round 9 could easily get them 3 losses in a row & the wheels will be rightly off the wagon. Mounters have barely lost 1 game so you would think they'll bounce right back & should push that winning margin to 28 shots in the end with 7pts.
Mt Lawley 7 - 1
