Well, what an exciting Round 4 ahead of us this week, good weather a balmy 26C perfect bowls weather. 2 Plays 4 in Game of the round. Dolphins V Magpies 1.5 points separating them and both sides hungry for a win. 4 rounds after this week till Xmas and we will be a ¼ of the season down at the conclusion of Saturday. Can the bottom doggies side finally get a win on the board or will they be 0-4? 8 v 9. Mavericks v Lions in battle of the bottom. Opportunity for one side to go further up the ladder.

The Beach boys v The View. On paper this should be an interesting game, but on last week’s performance you would say it would be one sided. The View embarrassed last week at home will be trying to bounce back, but that home ground advantage on that fast slick synthetic, definitely, gives the advantage to the beach boys. North Beach are travelling too well and are putting some really good performances together. Aitken and Booker back in for the Beach boys both very good additions. N/B next 4 games being Basso, Warwick, Yokine, Swan and Warwick is at home for them their run into Xmas looks very inviting and is probably the easiest run to the break. The View are going to have to show up this week otherwise it could be a very lopsided affair.
North Beach 7-1

In the game of the 2 Dogs. The Wolf being an ancestor of the Dog and having the same DNA. Which Dog is going to have the biggest bite? In the past I would have said the Doggies for sure. But I think this is going to be a close game The Doggies have had the wood over the Adriatic boys in the past, but this season seems to be vastly different. Wolf pack gathering confidence from last week’s win. The Doggies just aren’t barking this season. They are not the side as they have been in past seasons. It would be great to see the 2 top skips of both sides meet each other. Marovic/ Matinovich v McGillivray/ Shaw. Stirling one change but the doggies have a couple of ins and more importantly a couple of the rink line-up changes. Hunter gets his first skips go this season and from all reports he is playing good bowls. If Stirling can hide the 4XXXX they might negate some of his good bowls. Maybe he is a Queenslander and has been keeping it a secret!! HA HA – I will have to ask him next time I see him. But based purely on form and home ground advantage I must swing to the Wolf pack in a tight one. The wolf pack will send the doggies back whimpering to the doghouse. Stirling will move to 3-1 and the Puppy Pack will be 0-4 and in Problems.
Stirling 6-2

La Bataille du Bas Royale (The battle of the Bottom Royale) traditionally refers to a fight involving many combatants that is fought until only one fighter remains standing, what fighter will be left standing on Saturday night? A wild bunch of 16 Mavericks or the Green grass of Bassendean Lion pride! 8 v 9. Lions embarrassed at home last week and will need to perform much better and improve their overall performance. Mavericks on the other hand, Performance of Round 3 and gain massive confidence. Mavericks one change and Basso bring in 2 new thirds lets hope they can play at this level. I think Mavericks across the 16 are and will be too good for the Lions. I am not going to say whitewash, they pushed North Beach all the way in round 2 and I think it will be a comfortable win at home for them. Someone needs to stand up for the Lions if they have a chance of taking some away points.
Morley 7-1

JOONDALUP v WARWICK

Well, what a cracking game this should be 2 v 4 at the home of the Dolphins. Again, it will Hinge (No pun intended haha) on who lines up against the game changer. If he lines up against Buchanan or Neilson then the Magpies will be in with a shot, one of the Dolphins skips will have to cover the shots difference. Purely from a selfish point of view and I am sure 100% of the spectators eg the rest of us would like to see a Leggett v Hinge game. The top 2 skips from both sides head-to-head. I think that with Rixom starting to hit a little form and Leggett in good form the dolphins will be too strong. The end score could be very tight in the end if one of the rinks has a blowout. Only one change each not impacting either side. Dolphins are going to be too good at home 6-2 in a tight one.
Joondalup 6-2

Saints v Swannies should be interesting game. Giuseppe is firing on all cylinders and is the No.2 man on the skips. If Swan can negate him then they might be in with a chance. His wins aren’t big but he is delivering every week. I would like to see a Natalotto v Guiseppe Battle. Swan have been on the improve the last 2 weeks and are looking much better with the line-up. 2 changes for Swan but I think the Saints are going to edge out Swan on the back ends in the afternoon, but still will be close.
Osborne Park 6-2
