Not a bad week tipping last week 3 from 5 with South Perth blowing my selection out of the water along with Rossmoyne beating Yokine they broke my perfect start I’m 8 from 10 for the year.
ROSSMOYNE 2 83 (6) v YOKINE 79 (2)
Currie, Alastair 23 v Coffey, Wayne 31
Herbert, Allan 18 v Griffiths, Philip 21
Bartlett, Stanley 23 v McGillivray, Trevor 13
Beacroft, George 19 v Morrison, William 14

Congratulations to the Rossmoyne 2 side they got over the line in a close game – well close game thanks to a Yokine’s Skips Coffey and Griffiths who nearly managed to get the points for their club on their rinks but could not quite cover the two losing rinks eventually losing the aggregate by a miserly 4 shots. A great result for Rossmoyne 2 it was the Stanley and Beacroft rinks who combined to get the aggregate for their club. This leaves Yokine really needing to open their seasons account next week or they will be facing another long season in one blue.

Yokine 7-1 Result Rossmoyne 2 -6-2

SWAN 96 (7) v DOUBLEVIEW 70 (1)
Natalotto, Tony 33 v Langdon, Winton 9
Southern, Alan 17 v Herriot, Guy 25
Tibbles, George 22 v Johnson, Edward 18
Park, David 24 v Tennant, Andrew 18

It didn’t turn out to be the game of the round as predicted as the Swanny boys got an extra point than I thought they would. The aggregate was never in doubt with Swans ever green Skipper Tony Natalotto and his rink getting hold of the normally hard to beat Langdon rink early and from there it was a formality. Dave Park had his first win as a one blue skipper and he looks to have a bright future in that position only narrowly losing last week but getting the taste of a win this week will give him and his rink great satisfaction. For Doubleview it was the Herriot rink who beat the normally rock-solid Alan Southern in a great match to take home at least one point for the View. Well done to Swan who are also letting the one blue comp know they are also contenders of some kind at this early stage.

Swan 6-2 Result: Swan 7-1

WANNEROO 74 (6) v MUNDARING 67 (2)
Nievelstein, Martin 17 v Bear, Geoffrey 19
Widermanski, Echo 21 v Cousins, Mervyn 18
Golding, Michael 13 v Cox, Rex 18
Denny, Steve 23 v Lynch, John 12

Wanneroo have opened their account with a very good 7 shot aggregate win over Mundaring who were much better on grass this week and had their own chances to grab the points but couldn’t deliver the knock out blow when it mattered. All games were close other than John Lynch’s rink who Steve Dennys boys managed to beat by 11 shots which was really the difference in the end as most other rinks were decided by only a few shots. I’m sure Wanneroo will be very happy with opening their account while Mundaring need to win next week otherwise it could be their worst start in 1 blue for quite some time.

Wanneroo 7-1 Result Wanneroo 6-2

CAMBRIDGE 73 (1) v BASSENDEAN 88 (7)
Jones, Geoffrey 15 v Revell, Rodney 28
Buckley, Stephen 23 v Strachan, Neil 9
Byres, Ashley 19 v Erceg, Michael 26
Leahy, Edward 16 v Cook, Mark 25

Bassendean made amends for their top sides loss to Cambridge by inflicting some pain on Cambridge’s 1 blue side whilst their PL team mates were doing the job for themselves back at home against Manning. Great wins to Mark Cook and Rocket Rod Revell made sure the aggregate was always in control, from all reports Travis Lynch had a blinder whilst Mick Erceg rink was having a great win of thier own over the Ashley Bryes led rink. Bassendean continue to get the job done and are working well as a unit, as suggested they will be very hard to topple this year no matter who they play. Cambridge will be wanting to get on the board soon.

Tip: Bassendean 7-1 – Result: Bassendean 7-1

KALAMUNDA 56 (0) v SOUTH PERTH 94 (8)
Gosstray, Stewart 12 v Durrant, Adrian 26
Olive, Wayne 15 v Bandy, Denis 25
Cooper, Rodney 12 v Roelofs, Bill 25
Bartlett, Arthur 17 v Santostefano, Vincent 18

Well the South Perth crew sizzled and put my theory to bed very early and they were in white hot form away from home and gave Kalamunda a fair old touch up to the tune of 38 shots. Kalamunda will not be to happy about a loss like that and I’m sure that will be enough of a wake-up call to fire up from here on in. South Perth have made it clear that they are in it to win never mind holding this side has the goods to go all the way. Well done to all 16 blowers it has to be a team effort across the board when you have a win like that but a shout out to the Adrian Durrant led rink who won well again and sit on top of the skippers table after 2 rounds. Well done again to the Millers on a great win the trip home would have been very enjoyable I’m sure !

Kalamunda 7-1 – Result: South Perth 8-0
